Please note that this is an extra test that can only be done with the full genetic testing kit. If you have already done the full panel kit then you can simply add this one anytime.
This test is a game changer for understanding if your illness/symptoms are related to histamine intolerance. Recent research is linking histamine intolerance and POTS syndrome, MCAS, and long covid like symptoms and if you do have a histamine intolerance you can drastically improve your health by doing a Histamine Elimination Diet.
CAN I GET JUST THE HISTAMINE TEST? Unfortunately we can't offer this stand alone just yet, so you will still need to do a full 70 gene panel test as well. You can select the general health, sports, fertility or plant based full test and then add this on.
ALREADY HAVE DONE THE FULL TEST? If you have already done the full genetic test we offer, you can simply add this to the cart and we will order this new test option for you.
WHAT IS HISTAMINE INTOLERANCE?
Histamine intolerance is a condition characterized by the accumulation of histamine to a point that exceeds the body’s capacity to eliminate it. Researchers have attributed several reasons to this condition, such as genetic factors, alcohol, and dietary deficiencies, among other elements. Symptoms of histamine intolerance have been found to extend beyond the gastrointestinal tract and to the whole body, with these symptoms being sporadic and non-specific.
In someone with histamine intolerance, the enzyme responsible for breaking down histamine, called diamine oxidase (DAO), is either deficient or malfunctioning. As a result, excess histamine accumulates in the body, leading to symptoms.
DAO is made in the intestines. If the intestines are not healthy, there may not be enough DAO to break down histamine normally. When build-up occurs, so do symptoms. This may explain why histamine intoleance symptoms are more common in persons with gastrointestinal disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, IBS, celiac, and SIBO. Certain medications can also block DAO activity.
